After historic gains, US stock futures show mixed performance ahead of the open

The performance of the futures contracts for U.S. stock indices varied during pre-opening trading on Wednesday, as investors monitored geopolitical developments in the Middle East and awaited important economic data.

This comes after security developments in the region, where the Kuwaiti army announced the interception of hostile targets using air defense systems, while the U.S. Central Command confirmed that its forces successfully intercepted ballistic missiles and Iranian drones, and conducted defensive strikes on Qeshm Island in response to attempted Iranian attacks across the Middle East.

In this context, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran agreed not to possess nuclear weapons, but he indicated that its position may change in the future.

The major indices of the U.S. stock market had recorded new record closing levels on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 index rising by 0.13%, surpassing the 7600-point mark for the first time in its history. The Nasdaq Composite index also achieved slight gains of 0.03%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 228.91 points or 0.45%.

Regarding economic data, investors are awaiting the release of the ADP report on U.S. private sector employment for May, along with the industrial production data for April, which may provide additional clues about the trajectory of the U.S. economy and interest rates in the coming period.

The futures contracts for the U.S. stock market traded near these levels during pre-market trading:
