The main European stock markets ended Thursday's trading with a strong rise, as the Euro Stoxx 600 index jumped by 1.17% to 544.84 points, after the European Central Bank decided to cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage points last week. The Bank of England followed suit today, hinting that further cuts would come.

At the close of European stock trading today, the main indices settled at the following levels:

  • The German DAX index rose by 316.49 points, or 1.47%, to 21,902.42 points.
  • The French CAC 40 index remained stable at 8,007.62 points, with an increase of 1.47%.
  • The British FTSE 100 index settled near 8,727.28 points, jumping by about 1.21%.
  • The Italian FTSE MIB index stabilized at 37,121.77 points, up by approximately 1.48%.
  • The Spanish IBEX rose by 1.55% to close trades at 12,731.00 points.
