The Financial Times reported on Monday, citing sources familiar with the matter, that the Chinese government may delay granting self-driving licenses to Tesla in the People's Republic. According to the sources, regulators in China informed Tesla that there is no specific timeline for approval of the permit, which would allow billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's company to begin training its full self-driving system (FSD). Last year, the world-leading electric vehicle manufacturer revealed that it hoped to launch FSD technology in both China and Europe during the first three months of 2025. In addition, the informed individuals explained that the People's Republic is looking to use the approval of the license as leverage in trade talks with the United States, clarifying that this is the main reason for the delay.
