The National Institute of Statistics in Spain released on Friday the consumer price index data for January, which was mixed compared to market expectations.
According to the reported data, the overall consumer price index rose by 2.9% in January on a year-on-year basis, while it was expected that the inflation rate in Spain would grow by the same rate it did in December, which was 3%.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index in Spain increased by 0.2% in January compared to December, which matched market expectations and the previous reading.
At the same time, the annual core inflation rate in Spain was recorded at 2.9% in January, which is the same level as the inflation rate recorded in December, and this reading also aligned with market expectations.
