The European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maros Sefcovic, stated during a media interview with BBC on Thursday morning that the European Union may consider allowing the United Kingdom to join the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement.

However, the Commissioner clarified that the EU will first wait for the proposal from the UK government, which has not yet been precisely formulated, according to Sefcovic.

The official added that the EU and the UK must reassess the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement following the UK's exit from the EU, with the UK adhering to EU regulations.

Sefcovic further mentioned that the EU and the UK will need to apply the same rules and work on updating them simultaneously, in what can be termed dynamic alignment to achieve the interests of both parties.

It is noteworthy that the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement includes the EU and a number of non-EU countries from Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

These statements from the EU come amid the preparation of President Donald Trump's administration to impose tariffs on imports from Europe as well as many other countries, prompting the EU and the affected countries to take action to protect their exporters' interests and minimize economic repercussions.
